Threading and hair removal near the face
Why the old Brisbane menu listed threading and waxing next to peels, and how to sequence hair removal around facial treatments without inflaming the barrier.

The 2013 navigation for antiwrinklebrisbane.com.au put threading and waxing under beauty services, a few clicks from peels and wrinkle consultations. That mix still happens in Brisbane shopfronts. The editorial job is to sequence them.
Hair removal is a barrier event
Wax rips. Thread loops. Both disturb follicles. On skin that is already dry from air-conditioning or thin from acids, that disturbance shows.
If your barrier is already loud, read dry skin and barrier repair first.
Sequence with clinic treatments
A common pattern is to leave a gap between hair removal and peels, microdermabrasion or light devices. The exact gap is individual. Put it on the list in questions to ask before a facial procedure.
Pigment and the upper lip
The upper lip is a pigment hotspot. Irritation plus Queensland sun is a poor pair. Sunscreen on that strip is not optional: Queensland sunscreen and UV.
Infection hygiene is not old-fashioned
Reusable threads and pots of wax need proper protocols. If a room looks casual about skin that will later be peeled, believe the casualness.
Makeup and tinting
The old site listed tinting. Dye near the eye has its own patch-test culture. Do not invent a home version the night before photographs.
Where this sits in the archive
This is a small page on purpose. It exists so the beauty-service chapter of the old site is not orphaned, and so lip and perioral ageing consultations have a practical neighbour.
Questions readers ask
Can I wax the same day as a peel?
Often that is discouraged because both stress the same skin. Ask the practitioner who is responsible for the peel. Do not rely on a beauty-counter rule of thumb.
Is threading “safer” than wax because it is older?
Threading avoids hot wax, which some people prefer. It can still cause folliculitis, pigment change and irritation. Safer is not a synonym for risk-free.
Why mention this on a wrinkles site?
Because the historic Anti Wrinkle Brisbane navigation included threading and waxing, and because inflamed follicles change how lines and makeup look.
What if I get bumps after upper-lip threading?
Keep the area clean, avoid extra acids, and seek a pharmacist or GP if it looks infected. Do not add a clinic peel on top.
