What do I need to do to prepare for my laser hair removal treatment?

  • Prior to your treatment, we ask that you shave the area 12 – 24 hours beforehand to ensure the best possible results. Please do not wax, pluck, thread or do any form of hair removal which removes the root of the hair. It is important that you shave the area so that the heat from the laser is absorbed into the root of the hair, and not the hair growth on the surface. It is also important that you do not use hair removal or depilatory cream in the months leading up to our treatments.
  • Prior to your treatment, please ensure you are not tanned from any source including suntan, solarium, spray tans or fake tans for a minimum of two weeks. The reason for this is the laser is attracted to the pigment in your hair follicle, it is not able to differentiate between a dark hair follicle and dark pigment on your skin. Please inform your treatment therapist if you have recently had sun exposure prior to having your treatment.
  • Ensure you’re applying SPF 30+ or greater to avoid accidental sun exposure.
  • Avoid the use of topical skin solutions including moisturiser and perfume on the areas being treated on the day of your appointment.

The number of treatments required varies for each client. It depends on your hair and skin type and the area being treated. However, we normally suggest 10-12 sessions with maintenance to ensure a good result. Treatments are normally 4 – 6 weeks apart, however, this can increase as you are further into your treatments and seeing less and less hair regrowth. Every body part has a different hair growth cycle so results will vary depending on the stage your hair follicles are in at the time of treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on the area being treated, treatment times can be as little as 15 minutes.

Laser hair removal is one of the most effective and affordable hair removal options available. However, no clinic is able to claim 100% permanent hair removal due to factors such as changing hormones, genetics, and hair follicle cycles.

  • You will experience minimal discomfort with laser hair removal, especially when compared with alternatives, such as waxing. After each treatment, the hair becomes thinner and discomfort is decreased further. You will feel a slight tingling on most areas being treated and on particularly sensitive areas, the feeling can be compared to being flicked with a rubber band. Trust us, when you see the results you will be amazed at how pain-free the experience was!
  • TIP: To reduce discomfort, ensure you have shaved well and have no tanned pigment on your skin.
